What’s New
-
Finalized v1.0 of Trinity page. Updated Youtube videos, replaced all images with HDR images, replaced Nukemap image with one centered on Trinity site, slightly edited short essay, adjusted formatting, and completed specs. Selected and adjusted final images. Set up image file system in Lightroom to prepare for processing images.
-
Added solid draft of text and photos for “About this Site” and “About the Photographs.”
-
Converted Progress Report page to a blog to allow subscriptions. Added (and have 90% configured) the Mail Poet subscription functionality (it’s working but needs wording changed on a few screens, etc). Added Folders plug-in to Pages backend screen (to keep the weapons pages organized). Completed AIOSEO setup and connected to Google Search.
-
Added short essay to Trinity weapons page.
-
Updated weapons spreadsheet with years of service and am sorting into broad categories. Roughed out six weapons categories to sort weapons into, combining as appropriate (such as related Fat Man designs). Test converted “A New Kind of Weapon” category into a drop-down directory, successfully, I think.
-
Solved HDR issues (Public service: In Lightroom, save as AVIF without“Maximum Compatibility” and at 2400 pixels, use Gutenberg Gallery Block (and custom css to prevent final images growing large). Lightbox plug-ins seem o.k. All other galleries convert to jpeg for main image and/or thumbnails or convert AVIF to thumbnail images without gain map.
-
Added introductory text and links to NUKEMAP portion of single-weapon page. Still testing gallery plug-ins for HDR compatibility. Improved formatting of single-weapon page. Added videos and a Further Reading template to the single-weapon page.
-
Solved the HDR problem (solution: EWWW plug-in was stripping away metadata including gain map). Encountered a new one—can’t yet find a gallery plug-in that supports HDR. Added first prototype of embedded NUKEMAP.
-
Started “Progress Report page.” Next: How to display groups of weapons?, Rough-in single weapon page, learn how to display an HDR image.
-
Replaced “A New Kind of Weapon” landing page. Started developing a prototype single weapon page (see Trinity listing). Ran out of power at the coffee shot—left my power cord at home. Next: Further develop single-weapon page layout. Resolve HDR issue.
